Attending
The WIP group is an informal association of music enthusiasts. It has no president or other officers, no dues, and no official membership. For any gathering, the host is in charge as you are in their home. Please treat the host (and their home) with respect and courtesy. This includes letting hosts know that you will be attending, so that they can plan accordingly.
When attending, your responsibilities are to:
- Follow instructions from the host.
- Arrive on time and plan to stay for around two hours.
- Be ready to perform at least one piece unless you are just attending as a listener.
- Limit your performance time to no more than 8 minutes (unless the host allows otherwise).
- Listen respectfully to all performances.
- Refrain from offering criticism or suggestions unless requested.
- Welcome new performers.
All music genres and instruments are welcome. All gatherings will have a piano, but not all hosts have music stands; if you need one, bring it. Since the gatherings are in people's homes, it might be difficult to accommodate ensembles larger than two. Check with the host if you want to perform with a larger group.
We tend to socialize after the performances. The host or attendees may provide some snacks although that is not required.
Please welcome anyone you don't recognize, and send them to the WIP organizer if they are not already on the mailing list.
